By Curtis Duncan After getting shelled by Suburban West and district rival Parkway Central, 12-4, on Monday, Parkway West was in desperate needed of a pick-me-up. The Longhorns were grateful benefactors of just such a gift when their conference schedule presented them a date with Fox on Wednesday afternoon. Fox took a quick 1-0 lead on the Longhorns, but West exploded for five runs in the top of the third inning and five in the top of the sixth inning, breezing to an 11-1 victory in six innings at Fox High School. Parkway West, which had lost two of its last three, improved to 10-7 (5-3 in the Suburban West). Fox dropped to 2-13 and remains winless in conference (0-10 in the conference). "It was a good one; we needed it," said Parkway West coach Scott Weissman. "We came off a disappointing loss the other day against [Parkway] Central, so this was one we needed to get." Despite giving up a run in the bottom of the first, the Longhorns' bats came alive in the bottom of the third. With runners at second and third, Troy Walker singled home a run, and Trevor Helms scored on a wild pitch, making it 2-1. Bryan Brown and Ryan Shapiro later delivered run-scoring singles, and Keith Cronin drove in another run with bases loaded, as he was hit by a pitch, stretching the lead to 5-1. West notched another run in the top of the fourth. Dustin Larson reached on an error, stole second base, and scored on an RBI-single by Brown. Brown drove in three runs and scored twice on the day. The Longhorns delivered the knockout punch in the top of the sixth with a five-run flurry. Helms and Walker started the frame with back to back
