Tigers Get Lion's Share Of Runs
In Twin Bill Sweep Of University City

By Curtis Duncan
Few things in baseball are more enjoyable than winning two games in the same day.
The Oakville Tigers were fortunate to enjoy that feeling on Thursday.  Oakville broke out the lumber twice, banging out a two-game total of 28 hits and winning an afternoon doubleheader over Suburban South rival University City, 21-0 and 16-2, at Oakville.
By virtue of winning the twin bill, Oakville moved to 9-4 overall and vaulted into the thick of the Suburban South race at 7-3 in the conference.  Oakville is in third place behind Parkway North and Eureka and one game ahead of Parkway South.
Oakville wasted no time taking the lead in the opener, 1-0, in the bottom of the first inning.  Tiger shortstop Chris Dobler provided the big blow by blasting the second pitch from U. City starter-loser Craig Morris 350 feet for a leadoff homer and a 1-0 Oakville edge.
The Tigers rounded out their scoring with four in the second inning, ten in the third, and sixth in the fourth inning to finish out the first game.
Dobler was huge at the plate, with four hits in five trips and three runs scored.  Kevin Mucklow also was big with the bat, getting three hits and driving in three runs.
Ryan Hetzer acquired the win for Oakville on the mound, going four in

nings for the win. Hetzer fanned five and walked two for his first win of the year.
In the second game, Oakville broke the game open with 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to keep the visiting Lions reeling.
Dobler and Chris Becker led Oakville's hitters.  Dobler had three hits, three RBIs, two stolen bases, and four runs scored.  Becker went two for three with a triple, three RBIs, and two runs scored.  Ed Cluckies provided the power with a homer and three RBIs.
Steve Green picked up the win in the nightcap for Oakville.  John Bass took the loss for the Lions.
   U. City fell to 1-18 (0-11 in the conference).
