Pattonville Starts Fast, Posts 8-1 Win
Over Kirkwood In Season Opener

Christensen, the Pattonville winner, pitched three innings before being relieved by Kinner, who worked the final four.
Jackie Evans and Krista Kuhn each had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Pirates' attack.  Isis Wilson had two hits, two runs scored, and drove in a run.
The lopsided score gave McGhee a chance to empty the bench.
"Early on, I was able to get everybody in," said McGhee.  "The new people coming up had a chance to get some varsity action, and everyone played well."
The Pirates take their 1-0 record to Manchester Park for a battle with Wentzville on Wednesday.  Kirkwood will try again for win number one when Webster comes calling on Wednesday.

The Pattonville Pirates struggled to a 1-5 start last softball season, and a slow start is what coach Doug McGhee wanted to avoid this season.  McGhee got his wish, at least for the moment on Monday, when the Pirates opened the season with a convincing 8-1 victory at Kirkwood.
"For a first game, I think we played well," said McGhee.  "[We made] some nice defensive plays [and] had nice pitching."
The Pirates came out flying in the first, plating four runs.  Tiffany Kinner and Lyndsey Harrison had run-scoring singles in the opening frame, as the Pirates staked starter Andrea Christensen to the early lead.
The Pirates built a 7-0 lead by the third inning and never looked back.
