Cor Jesu Advances To Championship Game
Chargers Oust Eureka In Semifinal

   The Cor Jesu Chargers have made it to the Class 4A State championship game, and their 2-1 semifinal win followed a familiar script.         
   "We came out here and did what we've been doing for 21 ballgames," said Cor Jesu head coach Marianne Haberstroh.  "That's just playing with heart and getting the job done.  Every game, it seems like it's somebody else that's the hero, and that's what is so exciting about this ball team."

   The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the Chargers untied the knot in the fifth.  Holly Sahrman led off the inning with a double over rightfielder Jen Smith's head.  Catie Blume then bunted back to the pitcher, Wallach, who unleashed a wild throw past first, and Sahrman motored home from second with what proved to be the winning run.
   "I have never seen a team that gelled the way 13 total players gelled on this ball club," said Haberstroh.  "And they're not ready to quit.  They want tomorrow."
   Cor Jesu faces Blue Springs in the championship game Saturday at 4:00.
